These tips are intended to provide general information to our customers on safe food handling and proper storage temperatures.
Chilled or frozen food
Buy chilled or frozen food at the end of your shopping trip. Examples: Fresh Milk, Cheese, Butter, Ice-Cream, Fresh or Frozen Fish and Meat.
Fresh milk and other dairy products
Fresh milk and other dairy products are recommended to keep into a cooler bag (temporary) after purchase in order to maintain the freshness of product. These products must be stored in the refrigerator IMMEDIATELY upon returning home.
Raw meat, fish, poultry and seafood
Separate out the raw meat, fish, poultry and seafood from other ready foods in your shopping trolley cart to prevent cross contamination.
Fruits and vegetables
Examine fruits and vegetables carefully which to avoid buying items that are damaged.
Meat, fish or poultry
Do not buy meat, fish or poultry if the texture is slimy, sticky, dry or with an abnormal color or unpleasant odor.
Canned food
Canned food should be free from dents, cracks or bulging lids which is not safe for consume.
Expiry date
Check the “best before” or “expiry date” on your food packaging before conducts any purchase.
Reusable grocery bags
Please make sure you use a specific reusable grocery bags for meat, poultry or seafood to prevent cross contamination.
Proper food storage helps to preserve the quality and nutritional value of the foods you purchase and preventing spoilage. Additionally, proper food storage can help prevent foodborne illnesses caused by harmful bacteria.
