AEON ECO ESSAY COMPETITION 2010 - ECO LIFE STUDY TOUR IN GERMANY
AEON organised the AEON Essay Competition 2010 offering contestants a change to visit one of the world's most eco-friendly countries, Germany. Themed "Biodiversity Crisis - What We Can Do To Save Our Environment". The essay competition drew in 535 entries and saw 3 grand winners who won a study tour to Germany. The winners from Malaysia, along with Hong Kong and Japanese winners, visited sites such as the eco village of Auterwitz, Organic Farm in Vorwerk Podemus, Wind Park at Mutzchen, solar power plant at Hohenlauft where they learned the dynamics of renewable energy resources, organic produce, eco lifestyle and more. The 5-day trip proved to be worthwhile as students gained more foreign experiences and 'green' knowledge by interacting with people of different cultural backgrounds and exploring the sounds and sights of new scenes.
